Double Heterojunction Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells: From Doped Silicon to Dopant-Free Passivating Contacts
نویسندگان
چکیده
Carrier-selective passivating contacts for effective electron and hole extraction are crucial to the attainment of high efficiency in crystalline silicon (Si) solar cells. In this comprehensive review, principle carrier recombination mechanisms conventional industrial Si cells discussed first. Passivating based on (i) amorphous hydrogenated (ii) polysilicon/silicon oxide next reviewed, with emphasis selectivity including contact layer band alignment silicon, localized transport ultrathin oxides. More recent developments dopant-free deposited by lower-cost fabrication processes lower thermal budget then described. This third category non-Si electron- hole-selective include transition metal oxides, alkali/alkali earth fluorides organic conjugated polymers. The photovoltaic performance asymmetric double heterojunction fabricated using these their stability damp heat conditions compared contacts.

متن کاملCalcium contacts to n-type crystalline silicon solar cells
Direct metallization of lightly doped n-type crystalline silicon (c-Si) is known to routinely produce non-Ohmic (rectifying) contact behaviour. This has inhibited the development of n-type c-Si solar cells with partial rear contacts, an increasingly popular cell design for high performance p-type c-Si solar cells. In this contribution we demonstrate that low resistance Ohmic contact to n-type c...
متن کاملPassivating electron contact based on highly crystalline nanostructured silicon oxide layers for silicon solar cells
We present a novel passivating contact structure based on a nanostructured silicon-based layer. Traditional poly-Si junctions feature excellent junction characteristics but their optical absorption induces current losses when applied to the solar cell front side. Targeting enhanced transparency, the poly-Si layer is replaced with a mixed-phase silicon oxide/silicon layer. This mixed-phase layer...
متن کاملEffect of Silicon Nanowire on Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell Characteristics
Nanowires (NWs) are recently used in several sensor or actuator devices to improve their ordered characteristics. Silicon nanowire (Si NW) is one of the most attractive one-dimensional nanostructures semiconductors because of its unique electrical and optical properties. In this paper, silicon nanowire (Si NW), is synthesized and characterized for application in photovoltaic device. Si NWs are ...
